Artscape is this week, and it reminds me of one my favorite parts of the UB experience. UB is at the center of the Baltimore art community. The Maryland Institute College of Art is around the corner, and both the Walters Art Museum and Baltimore Museum of Art are on Charles Street, too. Numerous art supply stores (where I occasionally shop!) populate the blocks surrounding UB.
But art at UB means more. The halls of UB's buildings are lined with art by local artists, including etchings from Baltimore's 300-year history and modern abstract art from more recent years. The displays, some of them hidden in far off corners, are a valuable resource UB should promote more.

It is truly amazing what can be found throughout the halls and in the classrooms of UB. Next time you have some time between classes, go on a treasure hunt. You'll have a whole new appreciation of UB...I know I do.
