BE THANKFUL

So it's Wednesday and as usual I am starting my Thursday blog. Although next Thursday is Thanksgiving, I will still be posting my blog as usual. Governor O'Malley has told me thank you and given us hard-working State employees a furlough day so I won't be busy on next Wednesday !!! But I'm guessing, you all will be with your families so I will use this week to share moments of thanks. Thank you Bianca for suggesting....even if you don't post your comments !!!

I'm 34 and I have quite a bit to be thankful. Probably a lot more than I will try to list here but here goes. Some are truly more important than others, some are simply personal to me. In today's economy, with rising gas prices, foreclosures, lay-offs, we need to just sit back and reflect on the little stuff. What sustains you?

I AM THANKFUL (and truly blessed) ....

*First and foremost for the Heavenly Father that gave me life and put me in this place to even be able to write for you all.

*Next for the wonderful parents I have. I couldn't (and wouldn't) ask for any other parents. Daddy passed away on May 24, 2008 but I am thankful for every single day he was MY DADDY !!!

*My sister passed on June 10, 2001 but I am thankful for the years she was alive and the laughs we had cause they left good memories for me. I am thankful that unlike many people in this world, we didn't have a hateful relationship because I'm not left wishing I had said anything to her or wanting to take back anything I said to her. She knew I loved and I know she loved me.

*I 'm thankful for my friends. As I wrote in an earlier blog, my friends know they are absolutely special to me. They are always there to support me, encourage me, hug me, wipe away my tears and I try to be there to do the same for them.

* I'm thankful for the people I meet through my friends. Through Tonyia and Keisha, I met Bianca and Carlise. Through Nee Nee, I met Glory and Fassi, through Tara, I met Sheryn.

*I am thankful this semester is almost over.

*I'm thankful for my cooking skills !!! I know so many people that can't !!!

*I'm thankful my husband know how to cook too...he can do it when I don't feel like it.

*I'm thankful for my new doctor at Johns Hopkins. I have hope now.

*I'm thankful for this second chance at getting a degree. Looks like it will take four years going part-time, but at least I'm trying again.

*I'm thankful my car starts in the morning...1993 Pontiac with 182,000 miles...whew !!!

*I'm thankful for being able to own my own home, even if it does comes with bills and responsibilities.

*I'm thankful for my aches and pain cause it means I woke up this morning. I know everyone says that but really. I have two auto-immune diseases that can be debilitating but I still am able to work.

*I'm thankful for all the sacrifices my parents made. It helps me to appreciate what I have now.

*I'm thankful for all the tears I have shed in my life. They cleanse my soul and help me to move on. They bring out the laughter that's trapped in me.

*I'm thankful for the relationships I've had for they have all taught me something. I've used them as learning experiences.

*I'm thankful my friends look forward to this blog each week.

I could go on and on picking small things I am thankful for but I won't. As I get older, the small stuff is enough to make me happy....at least I'm trying to believe that !!! I know someone will feel neglected...saying dag, I helped her do such and such....I gave her money for lunch (thanks Steve and John) ....I gave her a ride to school (thanks Linda, Kathie and Lu !!!!) but you know I still got love for you all. I thank each and every one of you for whatever it is you have done for me. As you approach next's week's holiday be sure to just thank you to somebody, anybody.

By the way, if you're cooking and invite me over....I'll say Thanks !!!!

I really really liked how you turn the aches and pains into something to look forward everyday. I think they should sell coffee mugs with that line on them. I think too many people get caught up worrying about the little things (like a car with 200k miles or a sore knee) and then ruin the big things (like actually being able to drive and being alive) because all they do is worry and complain.

I am also thankful the semester is almost over.

Very nice and very real. Folk tend to sweat the big stuff (material things) that don't mean so much after you attain them. And yes, the aches and pains keep you going and make us realize how blessed we are that we can still put one foot in front of the other. Anyday you're not pushing up daisies is a good day. All trials and tribulations lead to VICTORIES and lessons learned. Keep blogging.

I'm thankful that you decided to include me to receive your blogs. They are a real treat. I'll start it off by saying "Thank You" for being who you are. Good people is hard to come by these days. You are a wonderful and kind person who is very thoughtful and caring. I am glad I have the pleasure of knowing you. Continue to do what you do because rather you know it or not, you brighten up peoples lives with you positive energy.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

I'm thankful that I could read your blog this morning. It made me re-think all the things I've been complaining about lately and realize everyone don't have some of the things and opportunities I have to complain about. Change will come when God thinks it's time. I'll wait be patient and thankful.

That was great and you must have heard the service last Sunday via our telepathic relationship. The takeaway was “Sincere gratitude should lead to a genuine action” and you have just done that without even trying. That is GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Charlene: thanks for another good and fun blog! Thanks for keeping me posted across the ocean - through all those years. And since we've never met: how about you come over and I cook you dinner. Not that I'm a kitchen star (more like culinary challenged), but my pancakes - that's crepes - are famous... I know you'll say "Thank you, no thank you", as you'd never make it here. Too bad... but maybe some day...

Wow....the outpours this week...I can't believe this !! It has truly taken me a minute to get to the point where my pain is my pain. It's going to be there and not go anywhere so I am working on learning to just live. Today is today and tomorrow is tomorrow. My husband and mom and Tara always tell me I stress too much which is why I am working on living for the moment more and learning to stop and smile at stuff.

@Mariska...sorry sweetie but you know I ain't never ever getting on no plane !! I'm not even putting that on my bucket list !!
@Tara....we always be on the same page !
@Markeia....I am glad I met you too. I love your mom. She keeps me calm around this office !!
@Kimmie....You need help girl but you keep me laughing. Laughter is good.
@Leslie...Glad I could inspire you for the morning. Let's keep inspiring each other girl.
@Bev...Yes girl I don't know where the growth came from but it's good. Are you sharing with the rest of the family?

But again, thank you all for reading and opening you hearts.
