The typical Wednesday for me consists of meetings, e-mails, and everything that is not related to classwork or homework. Since I have no classes, it's my day to catch up on everything. Today I spent a lot of time hanging up our Block Party fliers - we've been working with University Relations and using some teasers for the fliers. The reason I bring this up? The Bee!! It's coming!! And the countdown is at less then a month now! :) On the official Beelieve website there has been a sighting! Have you been keeping track? Maybe you'll see a few more tracks left by the bee.
Aside from meetings and e-mails, I did something a little out of the ordinary - I had fun! SEB had a magician, Norman Ng, come and perform at 6p.m. - 7p.m. tonight Earlier in the day he walked around campus showing random magic tricks to those milling about in the SC lobby, or on the plaza. This guy was pretty awesome. He showed me a few tricks, one of them being a simple rubber band trick. He handed me a rubber band, showing that it was legit, then he took it back and snapped it. He then "melted" the ends back together, and handed it back to me. I know that these are small tricks, but it's just amusing/thrilling to see something and try to figure out how on earth they did it.
His performance at six was something else entirely, and really entertaining. One trick involved a couple that he brought on stage. He had the girl pick three items from a menu, and he had the guy pick a sealed fortune cookie from a bag. He then had the girl read off the menu items she had chosen: beef and broccoli, wanton soup, and an eggroll. He asked the girl to say how much she would tip, and she said 5 dollars. The guy then cracks open the fortune cookie, and it says " You will order beef and broccoli, wanton soup, and an eggroll. And you will tip 5 dollars". Another trick had him drawing a bowling ball on a sketch pad - a regular, flat sketch pad. Then he opened the sketch pad, and an actual bowling ball fell out - and it was no longer drawn on the paper, it was gone.
Regardless of how these tricks were done, they were really funny & entertaining. If Norman Ng ever comes back to UB, I highly recommend that everyone go and see him!

I missed the bee!!!
Hmm, but judging by his shadow, I see a little influence of the very old red bee that is on the wall of the gym..
