Okay, so for those who do not know, I'm Pakistani. And well its pretty much the same as Indian with a few minor changes. So since the countries both share a border, we pretty much share the same type of food as well. And so my mom is the typical traditional women, "SABA learn how to make roti because one day your going to get married and your husband won't have anything to eat!" I hear about this 2 times a day every day. Roti is a type of flat bread that is pretty much essential to the living of Pakistanis.
So since my mom thinks I am becoming old, (I'm only 18) she decided to teach me how to make Roti on Monday night. My mom's Rotis are truly amazing; perfectly round and perfectly thin as paper. So I went started out by making a ball of dough, pressing it back and forth and throwing it on the "thava" or more commonly known as some type of fry pan I guess. Its not really a fry pan but it looks like it. I was excited until my roti didn't come off of the pan and there was a huge hole in it. I was trying to go for this:

but ended up with something like this:

yeah talk about the differences. I don't know how long it will take me to get that shape, I guess my husband will always starve mom ;)

Who cares what it looks like as long as it tastes good? That is my personal take on cooking.
Roti, Paratha, Naan.....its all so good!
I'm inclined to agree with Spencer on this one, it doesnt have to be perfectly round to taste good!
