I decided that UBs CorpComm program was the perfect platform for me to jump start my public relations career. However, now I find that with each class I take, I begin to question what it really is that I want to do. It's like the more I learn, the less I am sure of my plan. When people use to ask me what I wanted to do when I graduated, the answer would roll off my tongue. Lately, not so much.
I've worked for the government for almost 14 years. Most of the jobs I've had don't translate well into the private sector. Being at UB has opened my eyes to so many new possibilities. There are jobs out there that I didn't even know existed or that I would never have considered. I'm so excited about my possibilities. I haven't given up on public relations dream but now I know my opportunities are endless.
I've dabbled with owning my own business before but the project management classes I've taken have really pushed my mind to seriously consider opening my own business--for real. So now I'm thinking about broadening my career opportunities. I've stopped thinking about working for others, making money for them. Now, I'm thinking about me. Show me the money! Perhaps I could open a full-service communications firm? Firm sound so upscale, doesn't it?

I too work for the government marni. State but always considered Federal. I really would like to get out of working with the public. I don't consider myself a people person !! I like to do things on my own and not be bothered or interrupted. I ultimately would love to work from home. But ub does have a number of workshops and speakers that do give you insight into jobs you never thought about. One I found interesting was that you ride past the stadiums all the time but you never think of the round-the-year jobs that are to be had with the Orioles and Ravens.
I would love one of those jobs! I hear the Ravens is an awesome organization to work for. I've browsed their openings.
