1) HOW AWESOME WAS THE MUSIC?
I happened to be standing by the Academic Building and saw the Honey Bees approach, so I had a pretty good idea that there was going to be some sort of music. I excitedly ran over to my friends and pried them away from the beer to get front row seats. I am not going to lie, the opening number, complete with the most awkward rap ever, almost put me off.
But then there was a costume change and a pretty solid Beyonce imitation, and I think I was pretty hooked. The video doesn't show it, but the dance moves were pretty good.
Then, of course, another costume change, and what do we have, but the song everyone loves to hate! But the Honey Bees were fully committed, and while it might not be a timeless musical classic, it was high energy and fun.
2) How cool is the mascot?
I am personally pretty satisfied with the appearance. I think the look combines the best of the looks I found wandering around the campus. More importantly, the Bee is a great mascot for the University of come together around. Now if I can just get him to show up and lead the court in the mexican wave during my Moot Court competition next April...
3) How great was the weather?
I know it prevented me from doing any studying. And no, it wasn't because I had too much beer, I just couldn't drag myself back inside.
4) How awesome is it that they serve beer?
I am sorry, there is something about on campus, school sponsored, cheap drinks that will never get old. This was by no means a drinking event, but it was nice to relax with a cold beer.
5) How many active organizations does UB have?
Seriously, where do you all normally hang out? The quad was packed with all types of student organizations and activities. I spent some time wandering around learning about all the things I don't have time for now that I am in law school, and it made me wish I was still an undergrad and could go to all these clubs. The Rec Center was especially well represented.
6) How awesome is the Mount Vernon/UB community?
I thought it was great that quite a few people from the general community wandered past. This is something I noted at the Fall Block Party as well, but there are few times when undergrads, business students, law students, professors, administrators, alums, friends, family, and the rest of the community can get together.
7) How cool are my UB Block Party Cups?
I am slowly working on a full dinner set.
8) How amazing are the people who organized this?
My full respect and admiration for all those involved in organizing and otherwise working the block party. It seemed to go off without a hitch, lines were generally short, the entertainment was good, there was no beer truck fiasco like last time, things seemed safe and under control. I know Courtney was involved, and anyone else behind the scenes, my hats off to you.
If you enjoyed the block party, feel free to share your favorite moment by leaving a comment.

I wish I could have been there, but I was stuck at OAH all day. Looks like it was a fun time...and maybe I've been out of the loop, but have they always served beer? That's freakin' sweet!
I have only gone to two block parties, the fall and spring ones of this year, and they served beer at both. I can't say about previous years though!
Its worth a stop, even if just for a half hour on lunch break.
Unfortunately, I was out sick all week with the flu, but enjoyed reading your coverage of the event.
Indeed the music was amazing, awesome videos by the way.
