So I was reading an article about how these days people are keeping a food diary, of every meal they eat or whatever they eat, even a snack bar. This will supposedly show people the true meaning of the quote, "You are what you eat." The way this food diary works is that you take pictures of what you eat, even a piece of gum, then write down the time and date you ate it. Then at the end of the day you go back and look at all of the foods you ate.
So I did this food diary thing today and found the saddest thing about my life :(
Breakfast - A can of Sprite
Lunch - 3 slices of pizza and fries
Dinner - (I didn't even eat dinner)
At the end of the day my face was like this --> :O
I didn't know I had such bad eating habits, and this food diary is not that bad of an idea :/ well not to me at least :D
By seeing what you eat, you might be inclined to change your eating habits too or realize that you have been eating really unhealthy foods, (cough cough WHO HAS SPRITE FOR BREAKFAST!---oh wait I do!)

I started doing the UB Fit Biggest Loser thing, and we have to keep a food journal, and I'll admit, it's pretty eye opening. It really makes you think about what you're eating, and how many calories you take in. The biggest thing I noticed was that as overweight as I am, I don't eat. I did the same thing you do, I drink something for breakfast, maybe have lunch, and skip dinner. Now, I eat a bowl of cereal, I eat a subway sub, and then I have a salad or something for dinner. Then I have little 100 calorie snack bars as a snack in between! And it's awesome, I've actually lost weight, being able to see the calories on the page...
:)
I'm no skinny chick so obviously dieting I'm not !!! But I did take a food nutrition class some time ago and lost weight. It was truly interesting to read what you eat every day. I did the same for weight watchers. There's a friend of mine on FB that does the same. She makes some pretty interesting meals for herself. It can be used as inspiration really because you puts like calories or points and if you look at the plate, you has a good amount of items. Good luck to you all with your diaries. For me i can take one picture and print it five times cause I eat and drink the same thing for breakfast everyday. now if I showed that to a doctor, she might be in more shock than I am when i'm eating it !!!
Yeah I went and saw my local Nutritionist http://leanbymarco.com and he showed me how to write down what I eat. I started with paper and pencil, then graduated to a spreadsheet and finally designed my own online food logbook.
I've been logging what I eat religiously for over three years now and I don't think I'll ever stop. Not only does it help me be more accountable to what I put into my mouth (I call it afoodability), but it makes me learn more about the foods I eat, rather than just how they look and taste.
Good stuff. Thanks for the post.
